"Seize the moments of happiness, love and be loved! That is the only reality in the world, all else is folly."

Leo Tolstoy

How and why this wedding is different

We are glomads - our lives both started out in the Basque Country (not officially a country) but we've been moving from place to place since then. We have no specific home because home is everywhere on this little blue planet of ours. Just like our life, we do not want our marriage to be linked to any particular nation state, nor any state's definitions of what our relationship (marriage) and celebration (wedding) should look like - hence, we are writing our own rules:

A marriage contract should be written and agreed upon by the partners themselves;

We should be able to choose what code of law applies, instead of it being imposed arbitrarily due to our birthplaces or residence;

We don't need any State or Church to validate our marriage. Therefore, we are entering into this agreement, in front of witnesses, notarised on a Blockchain (the world's first decentralised public ledger);

Marriage is a strong commitment, and we hope it will be a lifelong loving partnership. It should be about having a happy and fulfilling life, not end up being a prison. We'd rather be able to say 'I choose you again', again and again. Our marriage contract has a 42-month term, and can be tweaked and renewed endlessly;

We reject gender roles in marriage. All rights and responsibilities should be shared equally;

Weddings shouldn't be a question of how much money you have, and participating should be possible no matter where you live. Our wedding ceremony will be free, happening online and enabling all friends, family and loved ones to witness;

The expectations placed on couples surrounding their wedding are ridiculous, on their psyche and their wallet. This expensive circus isn't mandatory, and couples should be able to personalise their wedding however they want...

We are exercising self-determination and forging our own path to sovereignty. Viva el amor! Viva la revólucion!

We'll leave you with the following, written over a hundred years ago by Emma Goldman, the Anarchist Feminist:

"Love, the strongest and deepest element in all life, the harbinger of hope, of joy, of ecstasy; love, the defier of all laws, of all conventions; love, the freest, the most powerful moulder of human destiny; how can such an all-compelling force be synonymous with that poor little State and Church-begotten weed, marriage?

Love is free; it can dwell in no other atmosphere. In freedom it gives itself unreservedly, abundantly, completely. All the laws on the statutes, all the courts in the universe, cannot tear it from the soil, once love has taken root. Love needs no protection; it is its own protection.

Some day, some day men and women will rise, they will reach the mountain peak, they will meet big and strong and free, ready to receive, to partake, and to bask in the golden rays of love. What fancy, what imagination, what poetic genius can foresee even approximately the potentialities of such a force in the life of men and women. If the world is ever to give birth to true companionship and oneness, not marriage, but love will be the parent."

"You never change things by fighting the existing reality.
To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete."

R. Buckminster Fuller

"You've gotta dance like there's nobody watching,
Love like you'll never be hurt,
Sing like there's nobody listening,
And live like it's heaven on earth."

William W. Purkey

About Gifts

No gifts, please - we’re glomads and have no room in our suitcases!

The very best present you could give us is your support for our projects, to help us try and change the world!

"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do.
So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover."

Mark Twain
